Learn a little more about heather:Heather is native to Europe, where it is widespread in temperate and mountainous regions. It is also found in parts of Asia and North Africa. It is often associated with moorland, bog and coniferous forest landscapes. Heather has a long history of use in different cultures. It has traditionally been used to make brooms, baskets and even beer in some regions. Medicinally, it has been used to treat a variety of ailments. Heather has traditionally been used in herbalism for its diuretic, astringent and antiseptic properties. It is often used to support urinary tract health, particularly in the treatment of urinary tract infections and kidney stones. It is also sometimes used to relieve mild gastrointestinal disorders. Parts of the plant can be used to flavour infusions or herbal teas. Physically, heather is a small evergreen shrub that can grow up to 60 cm tall. Its leaves are small, narrow, opposite and dark green. The flowers are generally pale pink to purple and appear in dense clusters at the ends of the stems.
