Lyophilized Strawberries

With the arrival of spring, strawberries  appear on our stalls for the happiness of the greediest. This small red fruit is rich in vitamins and minerals and has many benefits. If you want your rabbit to be able to eat strawberries all year round, I suggest lyophilized strawberries. The lyophilization process keeps all the vitamins and minerals as well as the beautiful color of the fruit. Thanks to the gentle lyophilization process, about 80% of the vitamins and minerals are preserved. These strawberries contain no additives and are 100% natural food. Your darlings will love this little touch of tartness, which we can also find in raspberry, . You should also know that leaves are a dish that rabbits are particularly fond of. 100% natural treat, contains no additives nor preservatives. Since strawberries are a treat, do not give more than one to two pieces per week.

Dehydration and lyophilization are two techniques that have one similar goal: drying food.

• By dehydration, we obtain an almost total evaporation of the water contained. The technique is very old and allows to protect food from the appearance of microorganisms that need water to grow. The process changes the nutritional qualities by causing a concentration of nutrients.
• Lyophilization involves the complete dehydration of food. The evaporation of water is obtained at low temperature by freezing the food and then sublimating the ice directly into water vapor. The technique is complex and expensive.

Shelf life: the shelf life of lyophilized products is very important. When properly stored, foods can be consumed for up to 15-25 years. Even after that time, the products are still edible, the flavors and nutritional values are almost as good as when they were lyophilized. In comparison, dehydrated food has a shelf life of only 4 years, frozen products 2 years.
