Foin bio des Vosges pour lapin

Organic hay from Vosges, 5kg

Did you know that there’s a food that our rabbits can eat as much as they like, that doesn’t make them put on weight, but, on the contrary, is essential to their health, maintains their teeth and contributes to better digestion? Well, it’s rabbit hay!

Hay is the foundation of a rabbit’s diet and well-being, so it’s essential to understand why and how to feed it to your rabbit. It provides essential substances, regulates transit, wears down teeth and keeps the rabbit busy… all good reasons to give it without restriction, while following certain rules. This is the best guarantee of a healthy, fit rabbit! For pet rabbits, hay has a number of virtues: it’s a low-calorie food, so the rabbit can consume a lot of it, it keeps him busy, he can sort the strands and choose. The first quality of hay is that it keeps him busy, bringing him closer to instinctive, natural behavior. For all these reasons, hay is considered an essential and indispensable element in the diet of rabbits, whatever the breed: dwarf rabbits, giant Flanders rabbits… It should therefore be part of their daily menu, but if you’d like to find out more, we’ve written a blog article on rabbit hay.

As we’re always on the lookout for excellent French hay, we’re delighted to offer you this organic hay straight from the Vosges: our “green gold” as I like to call it 😋.

But first, I’d like to tell you about the producer who has been doing this job for generations, taking over the family farm with great courage. We all know how difficult this business is, and even more so these days. The farm was converted to organic farming in 1996, and they realized the importance of producing quality hay by investing in a dryer.Once the hay has been cut, it is mechanically collected and then dried in a dryer to preserve its beautiful green color. So, as you can see, for Benoit and Audrey, the quality of their fodder is paramount, and that’s just as well, because we want the best for our rabbits too!

Why barn drying?

Thanks to barn drying, organic hay from the Vosges region dries gently and retains its delicate aroma. Once harvested, the grass is deposited in the drying cells. Large fans propel air from outside under the drying cells.

This passage of air causes the grass to finish drying slowly, and it’s after several weeks of drying that the grass that has been harvested becomes our beautiful and delicious organic Vosges hay.😋🌱

Discovery Hay Box

Hay is the number one food for the health of our rabbits, so it is important to find THE hay that your long-eared friend will enjoy. Hay contributes to tooth wear and a healthy digestive system, so as an owner, you should give them hay regularly. That’s why the more hay your rabbits eat, the healthier they will be. But hay is also an ideal hobby for our pet rabbits as looking for the best strand is an excellent stimulant against boredom. It is important to know that rabbits need a diet rich in fiber and to give them as much hay as they want is very important. Unfortunately, for budgetary reasons, it is difficult to buy large packages and to get rid of them if they are not to your rabbit’s taste. That’s why the concept of a discovery hay box seems interesting to me. Indeed, find a selection of 9 hays sold in the store in this box.

  1. Foin bio des Vosges, 5kg bag (meadow hay, France) 5.3g/kg MS
  2. Rabbits World dust-free hay, 5kg (meadow hay, France) 4.9g/kg dry matter, summer harvest. Beware of finer, more brittle strands.
  6. Foin de prairie dépoussiéré (Normandy, France) 3g/kg MS
  7. Timothy hay Selective. fleole brand, UK 0.4g/kg MS
  8. Timothy hay Oxbow brand timothy, USA 0.58g/kg MS
  9. Orchard hay from Oxbow USA, 0.58/kg MS

In each bag you will find 30g of hay. On each bag is also stipulated the rate of calcium. Indeed, for rabbits suffering from kidney stones or when they have sand-like particles in their pee, this rate is paramount. I also like to advise not only one hay but a mix of several hays in order to vary the intake and the pleasure. Have a good tasting 😉
