Echinacea

Echinacea (from the word echino which means “thorn” because of the thorny heart of the flower) is a genus of plants in the Asteraceae family native to North America. Three species are well known for their reputation in herbal medicine: Echinacea angustifolia, Echinacea purpurea and Echinacea pallida. Here, we are talking about Echinea purpurea which is reputed to stimulate the immune system and to act as a natural antibiotic. Because of its high fiber content, it also helps to improve digestion.
