Selective Junior Rabbit Pellets

Selective Junior Rabbit pellets are specially formulated for young, growing rabbits, as well as pregnant or lactating does. These extruded pellets prevent selective feeding and guarantee a complete and balanced diet, rich in fiber and protein, to support your rabbit’s growth, digestive health, and bone development. They can be given ad libitum to dwarf rabbits up to 6 months of age. For giant rabbits, whose growth is slower, these pellets can be given until 9 or 12 months. The transition can be made by mixing them with Selective brand grain-free adult pellets. Always remember to provide hay, fresh greens, and fresh water, and monitor your rabbit’s weight. Provide a portion of 40 to 50g/kg of body weight per rabbit per day.

Science Selective pet foods are recommended by veterinarians for their balanced formulation, compliant with FEDIAF (European Pet Food Industry Association) standards, and their high digestibility. They are designed to prevent selective feeding thanks to a homogeneous extruded form and are enriched with fiber (up to 25%), prebiotics, and essential vitamins and minerals.

While the composition includes wheat and feed wheat, these grains are present in moderate quantities, framed by functional ingredients such as alfalfa, flaxseed, pea flakes, and beet pulp. This ensures a low carbohydrate load, no added sugars, and excellent digestive and dental support.

Hay is the foundation of a rabbit’s diet and well-being, so it’s essential to understand why and how to feed it to your rabbit. It provides essential substances, regulates transit, wears down teeth and keeps the rabbit busy… all good reasons to give it without restriction, while following certain rules. This is the best guarantee of a healthy, fit rabbit! For pet rabbits, hay has a number of virtues: it’s a low-calorie food, so the rabbit can consume a lot of it, it keeps him busy, he can sort the strands and choose. The first quality of hay is that it keeps him busy, bringing him closer to instinctive, natural behavior. But first, I’d like to tell you about the producer who has been doing this job for generations, taking over the family farm with great courage. We all know how difficult this business is, and even more so these days.The farm was converted to organic farming in 1996, and they realized the importance of producing quality hay by investing in a dryer.Once the hay has been cut, it is mechanically collected and then dried in a dryer to preserve its beautiful green color.So, as you can see, for Benoit and Audrey, the quality of their fodder is paramount, and that’s just as well, because we want the best for our rabbits too!

Why barn drying?

Thanks to barn drying,organic hay from the Vosges region dries gently and retains its delicate aroma. Once harvested, the grass is deposited in the drying cells. Large fans propel air from outside under the drying cells.

This passage of air causes the grass to finish drying slowly, and it’s after several weeks of drying that the grass that has been harvested becomes our beautiful and delicious organic Vosges hay.😋🌱

In each bag you will find 30g of hay. On each bag is also stipulated the rate of calcium. Indeed, for rabbits suffering from kidney stones or when they have sand-like particles in their pee, this rate is paramount. Did you know that there is a food that our rabbits can eat at will, that does not make them fat, but on the contrary, is essential to their health, maintains their teeth and contributes to a better digestion? Well, it’s hay!

Every day, your rabbit should consume the equivalent of its body volume in hay. It should be offered to him at will, and left at his disposal at all times. Moreover, you will quickly see that this is not only good for his body: looking for the best strand, the one that crunches perfectly under the tooth, the one that smells better than the others… it’s a healthy activity that will keep your rabbit busy for many hours!

A French, dust free, low-calcium hay

This hay is harvested with the greatest care. Indeed, instead of being dried in the meadow, this hay once harvested will be dried for several weeks in a barn in order to reduce any climatic hazards on the quality of the hay. Although this hay is free of pesticides, it is not certified organic. It has two major assets:

It is a meadow hay for rabbits that is dust-free in order to reduce as much as possible pathologies related to the respiratory system of rabbits: inflammation or obstruction of the deep respiratory tract resulting in coughing or secretion of mucus.
This is a meadow hay for rabbits that is very low in calcium with a 2.53g/kg of dry matter. Indeed, the producer chose to favor a hay rich in grasses and free of legumes (clover, lucerne rich in calcium).

This hay is therefore recommended for adult rabbits (growth completed), for rabbits with respiratory problems or kidney stones. It is even advisable to mix the hay to diversify the nutritional intake of your long-eared companion. Don’t you know which hay to choose?
