Learn a little more about agrimony: it’s also known by the scientific name Agrimonia, and is a herbaceous plant in the Rosaceae family. Agrimony is widespread in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, including Europe, Asia and North America. It generally grows in meadows, woodland edges, along paths and in grassy areas. Parts of the plant, particularly the leaves and flowering tops, are used for medicinal purposes. Among the main health benefits of agrimony are its astringent, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. It is often used to treat gastrointestinal conditions, such as diarrhea, as well as to relieve sore throats and mouth inflammation. It can also be used externally to help heal wounds and skin rashes. Agrimony leaves are serrated and usually light green. As for taste, agrimony gets its name from its slightly bitter, astringent taste.

In general, agrimony is consumed in small quantities in the form of infusions, decoctions or liquid extracts for us humans. As it is rarely consumed in large quantities, there hasn’t been much specific research into its full nutritional profile, including calcium content.
